    Menieres disease

I ordered an alpha stim machine in late March of 08.  I have been using the machine for a month.  I experienced ear problems about three to four weeks ago and experienced bilateral tintinitis, decreased hearing for low tones in the left ear.  Today, I was diagnosed with Menieres disease.  I have been put on a Prednisone burst for ten days of so and am to have an MRI this week.

My question:  Has any research turned up such a reaction to the alpha stim machine?

If you are asking if Alpha-Stim can cause this problem, we are quite confident the answer is no. It has been shown to be effective in treating tinnitus in this VA study:

Engelberg, M, et. al. Transcutaneous electrical stimulation for tinnitus. Laryngoscope, 95(10):1,167-1,173, 1985. Presented at the Meeting of the Southern Section of the American Laryngological, Rhinological and Otological Society, New Orleans, Louisiana, January, 1985.  download full text article

However if you continue to use it make sure the current is very low, I suggest 100 microamperes to avoid making you temporarily more dizzy. You will need to increase the time to compensate for treating at such a low current, usually to one hour. It is most important not to stop a treatment when you feel heavy. If you feel heavy at the end of an hour, turn it back on until 2 minutes after you feel light.
