SGS AIS Award wego U.S. Chamber of Commerce Member 2008

Published in the Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce Newsletter and on www.mineralwells.tx

After watching the World Trade Centers in NYC explode September 11, 2001, Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce member Electromedical Products International, Inc. (EPI) devoted significant resources to helping soldiers protect the American way of life. EPI Chairman Dr. Daniel Kirsch was in Kuwait in 1992 teaching pain and stress management for the Kuwaitis and saw just how brutal our enemies can be.

“When the war came home in 2001 to the USA and specifically to New York City, where Dr. Kirsch was born and raised, we decided to get involved by doing what we do best ― treating pain and stress,” said Tracey B. Kirsch, EPI President. “We were able to get our Alpha-Stim technology on the Federal Supply Schedule and we are now working closely with several military and veterans hospitals to help our soldiers manage their pain and post traumatic stress disorder.”

Tonja Trammell, EPI’s Government Services Manger, reports that EPI is working with Army professionals at a variety of facilities throughout Texas. Two Alpha-Stim research studies are underway within the Army, with two more in development. There is also a study on spinal cord injuries ongoing at four Veteran Affairs Medical Centers. A half-dozen articles about Alpha-Stim have already been published by doctors at VAMCs.

Dr. Kirsch has been invited to lecture at military and VA medical conferences in the past year and has conducted grand rounds for medical staff at several locations. It took 17 months to be awarded the government contract, and there have been difficulties getting to see the right doctors, but it is all downhill now as calls are coming in from the military branches and VAMC’s throughout the country. A colonel in charge of stress management in Iraq for the first year of this war called EPI’s Alpha-Stim the platinum standard to treat post-traumatic stress disorder.

Alpha-Stim technology is also used to relieve pain in soldiers with severe injuries such as burns and amputations due to improvised explosive devices. Alpha-Stim often brings 90 percent or even 100 percent pain control when pharmaceuticals have failed to provide adequate relief.
